Welsh Conservative elected to Clwyd West seat for fourth time

WELSH Conservative Darren Millar has been elected as Member of the Senedd for Clwyd West for the fourth time. Mr Millar received 11,839 votes on Senedd election day on Thursday, May 6, followed by Welsh Labour candidate Joshua Hurst with 8,154, Elin Walker Jones, Plaid Cymru, with 5,609 and Liberal Democrat David Wilkins with 1,158 votes. Meanwhile Jeanie Barton, UKIP Scrap The Assembly, received 520 votes, Euan McGivern, Abolish The Welsh Assembly Party received 502, N Clare Eno, of Reform UK, received 304, and Rhydian Hughes, Gwlad – The Welsh Independence Party, received 277 votes. The results were confirmed on Friday afternoon at Eirias Park in Colwyn Bay, where the vote counting process was carried out by Conwy County Borough Council.

Jeff Cuthbert has been re-elected as Gwent\ s Police and Crime Commissioner LABOUR S Jeff Cuthbert has been re-elected for a second term as Gwent’s Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC). Mr Cuthbert’s win was announced following the count for second preference results, after no candidate had a majority in the first round. Among first preference votes, Mr Cuthbert received 75,775 – or 41.7 per cent. While it was more than 20,000 ahead of second place Hannah Jarvis of the Conservative Party, it was more than eight per cent shy of the 50 per cent need to win re-election. After the first round, all but the top two – Mr Cuthbert and Ms Jarvis – were eliminated.
