Cabrillo College in process of eradicating Legionella anisa outbreak [Santa Cruz Sentinel, Calif.]
Jan. 30 APTOS Two buildings on Cabrillo College’s campus tested positive for Legionella Anisa bacteria last week, a result of stagnant water sources during COVID-19.
Legionella Anisa was found in water supplies in buildings 1100, the Seahawks’ gymnasium, and HW2000, the Health and Wellness Department’s Dental Hygiene Clinic.
“The campus has not been occupied since mid-March, due to the pandemic, so that can happen,” said Kristin Fabos, Cabrillo’s marketing and communications director. “No one has reported being injured or ill.”
Dr. Matthew Wetstein, Cabrillo’s president and superintendent, sent out two emails last week to school staff, informing them of the outbreak and treatment status.
