The Heritage of Green Hills, a healthy life plan community in Cumru Township, Berks County, pulled out all the stops to spread cheer on March 20, the International Day of Happiness.
âItâs been a rough year, full of uncertainty,â said the communityâs Well By Design Director Cheryl Anderson. âBut now that spring has arrived, and our team and residents have gotten both shots of the COVID-19 vaccination, we thought we should celebrate some things the pandemic couldnât take away from us, like our friendships, a sense of humor and fun and our creativity.â
Residents donned fabulously ridiculous squid hats to play the Best Friends Challenge, the Duck Chuck and Chicken Flickinâ at a âDonât Worry, Be Happyâ party held on the Tavernâs sun-soaked patio.
The calendar may have said January 2021, but for the residents of the personal and memory care neighborhood at the Heritage of Green Hills, a healthy life plan community in Cumru Township, Berks County, it was the 1940s all month long.
âEvery month, we base many of our group activities on a central theme,â explained Heritageâs Arts and Entertainment Coordinator, Heather Setley. âThroughout January, we looked back at that richly historical time when many of our residents were children.â
Through crafts, games and fun discussions, the residents explored the decadeâs fashions, trends, famous boxers, architecture and other topics, often while listening to music from the period.
