Santa Clarita Weekend Arrests See 40 Percent Increase
Santa Clarita saw 24 arrests this weekend, a 40 percent increase from the previous week, with nearly half being for driving under the influence (DUI).
Between Friday and Sunday, 24 arrests were made in Santa Clarita compared to 14 last week, with a majority of arrests being drug and alcohol-related.
Out of the 24 arrests made this weekend, 19 were drug-related. Last week saw less than half that number of drug-related arrests, with only nine arrests made.
The most common arrest this weekend was for DUI. Out of all the arrests, 10 were made on DUI charges.

Decrease In Santa Clarita Arrests After Easter Weekend Spike
Over the weekend of Friday, April 9 to Sunday, April 11, Santa Clarita Valley law enforcement officers made 21 total arrests. After a remarkable string of low weekend arrest numbers throughout March, Easter weekend brought 61 percent more arrests than the week prior.
This weekend the numbers have decreased once again, dropping from 26 to 21 total arrests made, a drop of approximately 23 percent, including six felony arrests and ten drug or alcohol-related charges.
The six felony charges composed about 28 percent of all arrests this past weekend. This includes one account of burglary, two arrests made for carrying a loaded handgun without ownership of the firearm, one for receiving known stolen property, one instance of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and one charge of vandalism.
Number Of Reported Weekend Arrests Spikes Over Easter Weekend
The number of arrests reported Easter weekend, from Friday April 2 to Sunday April 4, in the Santa Clarita Valley rose to 26 over the last weekend, ending a trend of steadily descending weekend crime numbers.
This total is roughly 61% more arrests than those of the previous weekend of March 26 to 28, indicating a spike in arrests compared to the descending rate of the previous two weeks that totaled 16 and 15 arrests respectively.
Out of the 26 reported arrests over the weekend, more than two-thirds were related to drugs or alcohol, with 10 reported incidents of driving under the influence (DUI), five for possession of a controlled substance, two for being under the influence of a controlled substance, and one for public intoxication.
Number Of Reported Weekend Arrests In Santa Clarita Valley Drops 30%
The number of arrests reported in the Santa Clarita Valley over the weekend decreased by roughly 30%, with weekend logs indicating 30 total arrests reported in comparison with last weekend’s 42 arrests.
Between Friday, March 12, and Sunday, March 14, police booking logs indicate that a reported total of 30 arrests were recorded by officials from both the California Highway Patrol’s Newhall Office and Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
This total is roughly 30% fewer arrests than those of the previous weekend of March 5-7, indicating a steep decline in arrests compared to the rising arrest rate of the previous two weeks that totaled 42 and 36 respectively.
