Decrease In Santa Clarita Arrests After Easter Weekend Spike
Over the weekend of Friday, April 9 to Sunday, April 11, Santa Clarita Valley law enforcement officers made 21 total arrests. After a remarkable string of low weekend arrest numbers throughout March, Easter weekend brought 61 percent more arrests than the week prior.
This weekend the numbers have decreased once again, dropping from 26 to 21 total arrests made, a drop of approximately 23 percent, including six felony arrests and ten drug or alcohol-related charges.
The six felony charges composed about 28 percent of all arrests this past weekend. This includes one account of burglary, two arrests made for carrying a loaded handgun without ownership of the firearm, one for receiving known stolen property, one instance of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and one charge of vandalism.
