Dry weather conditions are likely over South Peninsula for the next 2 weeks or even longer. Day temperatures will rise to mid 30's and crossing 36 deg over interiors of Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu. Kurnool, Anantapur, Tirupati, Chittoor, Nandyal, Salem, Coimbatore, Erode and Tirupur will often exceed 36 degree in the coming days.
Reason for these rains can be attributed to the Cyclonic Circulation, which is over Southwest Bay and adjoining Sri Lanka Coast and South Tamil Nadu Coast. A trough extending from this system running right across South India up to Kerala. These showers will be seen for a few days.
Rains will be more concentrated over North Interior Karnataka as far as the state of Karnataka is concerned. Andhra Pradesh may see some good rains through and through and most parts will be seeing showers.
Monsoon is likely to advance further over the remaining parts of Rayalaseema. Consequently, more rainfall is expected over the next 48hr for the city and surrounding areas. The city's highest monthly rainfall record of 194.4mm since 2007, established in June 2020, is likely to be breached during this spell.
Heat wave is far away from many parts of the country however the heat pocket has now shifted to the southern part. States of Telangana as well as Andhra Pradesh. However, No heatwave is being seen but the hottest pockets do remain to be in these areas.
