The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange warning for the coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, including Chennai and its neighboring areas, cautioning about upcoming heavy rainfall. The low-pressure area over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining South Andaman Sea has shifted west-northwestwards and is currently situated over the Southeast Bay of Bengal. It is expected to continue its west-northwestward movement, likely intensifying into a Depression within the next 24 hours and later as a cyclonic storm
Tamil Nadu weather update: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that Tamil Nadu will experience more rainfall as a cyclonic storm approaches. Some parts of the state, including Chennai, has been seeing heavy rains for the past few days. The weather department has revealed that a low-pressure area in the Southeast Bay of Bengal is expected to move west-northwest and develop into a depression. It is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm over the Southwest Bay of Bengal around December 3rd. The cyclone is then projected to move northwestwards and make landfall on the North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh coasts early on December 4th.
Now also, Coastal Tamil Nadu, Interior Tamil Nadu and Kerala will see rain for the next two days. These showers may not be very heavy and will mostly be moderate in nature with isolated heavy spells expected over the region.
The mercury level is likely to go up in the coming days in many parts, especially in the capital city of Amaravati and Rayalaseema. , India News, Times Now
Dry weather conditions are likely over South Peninsula for the next 2 weeks or even longer. Day temperatures will rise to mid 30's and crossing 36 deg over interiors of Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu. Kurnool, Anantapur, Tirupati, Chittoor, Nandyal, Salem, Coimbatore, Erode and Tirupur will often exceed 36 degree in the coming days.
