Standing committee on public accounts (Scopa) provincial chair Mxolisi Dimaza said officials from the provincial departments of health and education needed to be “disciplined and taught a lesson” for unauthorised expenditure running into billions of rand. Scopa findings, which were released in Bhisho on Tuesday, into the financial affairs of the two departments revealed they had incurred unauthorised expenditure of R1bn each, during the 2020-2021 financial year.
