Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender James Mayinga does not approve of the club s decision to sign Rushine De Reuck.
The Brazilians completed the signing of De Reuck from Maritzburg United last week, with the defender signing a five-year deal with the club.
Mayinga, who nowadays works as a football analyst, believes the signing was not necessary as the player does not fit the club s style of play. No, he won t fit the pattern of Sundowns, Mayinga tells
KickOff.com when asked if Sundowns needed the new Bafana Bafana international. He s a good player, let s not take anything away from him. But Sundowns demand. how do I put it? Not just any player. A player that has character. Not only for one game but consistently week in week out. And always make sure you perform at your peak. You see, a player like [Ricardo] Nascimento for an example will be very difficult to replace at Sundowns because he s unique.

Wayne Arendse s agent says the defender is not far from finding a new team as they have engaged with a few interested clubs.
Arendse was released by Mamelodi Sundowns in December 2020 together with Anthony Laffor, who has since joined Chippa United.
Ashley Rasool, who represents the 36-year-old veteran from Cape Town, says they are waiting for the CAF Champions League winner to make a call on which club he would like to join. On Wayne there s nothing [concrete] yet my brother, he is training with a personal trainer at the moment, Rasool tells
KickOff.com.
The game will mark a return to the club where Chippa coach Dan Malesela started the current season.
“I am thrilled to have the experience of both Anthony and Ayabulela to bolster our squad. We welcome them both to the Chilli Boys family, as we look at reinforcing in key positions, and also towards our ambitions for this season, Malesela said.
Laffor s goal-scoring ability could be crucial for a Chippa side struggling in the relegation zone - they are in 15th position with six points from 10 matches so far this season.
The 35-year-old Liberia international is one of the most decorated players in the PSL and has seven league winners medals to his name. He s also won the Caf Champions League and has two Nedbank Cups, two Telkom Knockouts and one MTN8 title to his credit.
