Demond Means was named the new superintendent of the Wauwatosa School District Thursday. He was one of three finalists for the job.

She thought it was a creative writing course. When I first heard that it was a journalism class, I was actually kind of disappointed, Stanislawski said.
But then, she wrote her first article about a teacher who was retiring after 30 years of teaching.
“I realized that journalism is actually storytelling, about real people,” she said.
Four years later, she was named the 2021 Student Journalist of the Year by the Wisconsin Journalism Education Association.
Since enrolling in that first journalism class, she s joined the staff leadership team for Wauwatosa West High School s extracurricular journalism program. She s also on the editorial leadership board and helped create The Tosa Compass, which is run by journalism students at Wauwatosa East and West.

WAUWATOSA, WI Middle school and high school students will head back to in-person learning on Tuesday.
On Feb. 19 the Wauwatosa School Board held a meeting to discuss returning Phase Into Learning students in grades 6-12 to five-day-per-week instruction on March 2 instead of the previously approved date of April 5. The Board approved this recommendation.
Secondary students didn t have school on Monday.

On Feb. 2, Sen. Dale Kooyenga, (R-Brookfield) sent a letter encouraging the Wauwatosa School District to move students to entirely in-person learning. Kooyenga says he will advocate to direct state funding to schools that return to in-person learning.
