COLOMBO (News 1st): A suspect who goes by the alias “Aliwatte Asitha” who is connected to various crimes including murder was arrested by Mattakkuliya Police on Tuesday (May 05), Sri Lanka Police said.
“The suspect ‘Aliwatte Asitha’ is involved in various criminal activities committed in the Mutwal, Mattakkuliya, and Grandpass police jurisdictions,” Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana told News 1st on Wednesday (May 05).
According to the Deputy Police Chief, he has been identified as the chief suspect of a murder that took place on the 28th of April 2021 in the Mattakkuliya Police area.
Following interrogation of the suspect, a hand grenade was recovered from his temporary residence located in the Wattala Police jurisdiction, DIG Ajith Rohana added.

Colombo (News 1st); Anti-Narcotic Operations carried out by Sri Lanka Police on Saturday (13) resulted in the arrest of 06 suspects along with 20 grams of heroin in their possession.
Further, a live hand-grenade was also recovered in the operation carried out at Dias Place in the Keselwatte Police area in Colombo, said Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana.
The key suspect arrested in the operation was identified as Mohamed Ajim and he is a close associate of underworld criminal ‘Kanchipani Imran’, currently in remand custody.
Further, the Wattala Police arrested a 38-year-old female for the possession of 150 grams of heroin.
Sri Lanka Police also recovered Rs. 950,000/- from the possession of the suspect, said Police Spokesperson DIG Ajitha Rohana adding the money was generated from trafficking drugs.
