The campus was damaged in last year's Pajaro River levee breach and subsequent flooding, with students attending Lakeview Middle School since. The damage included mud and debris strewn throughout campus, warped linoleum floors and mold starting to emerge in classrooms.
Three years after its shuttering, the former Kmart building on Freedom Boulevard may see new life as a supermarket with an on-site taproom. Before it can do so, a pair of Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control licenses will need to be approved, and they will be going before the Watsonville Planning Commission Tuesday.
For more than a year, Watsonville Parks and Recreation staff have been studying the city's parks to determine their greatest needs. Now the fruits of their labor have resulted in the city's final Park Facilities Assessment report, which will go before the Parks and Recreation Commission at its Thursday meeting.
This year marks the end of Watsonville's previous Housing Element cycle and the start of a new one. Where things stand with the next Housing Element cycle will be the subject of an annual progress report to be delivered at the Watsonville Planning Commission's Tuesday meeting.
