It was a battle of NIMBYs versus developers during this week s meeting of the New Braunfels City Council. On Monday, May 10, an ordinary council meeting transformed into a nearly six-hour debate between the past and future of this San Antonio suburb, with heated exchanges between the public and dais.
In between administering police chief oaths, pledging allegiance to the Texas flag, and other small-town business, were four agenda items dealing with rezoning, including construction of a doctors office. While all items were met with vocal disapproval from residents in attendance, it was one item Item H that really caused tempers to flare.
