Nation emerges stronger from challenges
Watertown Democratic Town Committee Chairman Jeff Desmarais watched the inauguration from home Wednesday, and said he felt a sense of relief and cautious optimism that he hasn’t felt in a long time.
“There is a lot of work to do, and it will be overwhelming not only for the new president but for all of us, but I think that the challenges we face, and the effort to overcome them, will make us a stronger, safer and maybe even kinder nation.”
He offered congratulations to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris and said it’s “a wonderful thing to be able to say Madame Vice President. That’s long overdue and well deserved.”
