Watertown Democratic Town Committee Chairman Jeff Desmarais watched the inauguration from home Wednesday, and said he felt a sense of relief and cautious optimism that he hasn’t felt in a long time.
“There is a lot of work to do, and it will be overwhelming not only for the new president but for all of us, but I think that the challenges we face, and the effort to overcome them, will make us a stronger, safer and maybe even kinder nation.”
