Olds Nicholas Culver and justin phongsavvon phongsavanh with gunshot wounds to their arms. They were taken to a des moines hospital. Culver was released this afternoon. Phongsavanh is still in serious but stable. Condition. The suspect took off in his car with a woman. About a half hour later, 36 year old gabriel coco turned himself in to police, he was released from the polk county jail, but faces two felony counts of willful injury. The investigation is ongoing. Nikki a Jasper County inmate has taken his own life while in jail. It happened yesterday evening. Inmates in the mans pod noticed 23 year old Michael Criqui of newton attempting suicide and yelled for help. Staff responded as well as newton ems. The man was taken to the hospital where he later died. The initial investigation shows he used a bed sheet tied around his neck and his bunk to strangle himself.
