The shooting happened around 6 a.m. The child pornography case was being investigated by the FBI and prosecuted by federal prosecutors in Fort Lauderdale.
Davie police were at the scene along with the FBI because it is routine while executing a search warrant to have a marked police car parked outside the home of the target. Police from other agencies swarmed the area after the shooting.
When the FBI child-porn squad arrived at the Sunrise residence on Tuesday morning, the agents were carrying out a routine search warrant to seize the suspect’s computer and other evidence, according to law enforcement sources.

Two FBI agents are dead and at least three others are wounded after a raid on a home in Sunrise, Fla., turned violent early Tuesday. The suspect reportedly barricaded himself in his home, where agents were serving a search warrant as part of a violent crimes against children case, the FBI said in a statement. The suspect is also dead.
The violence erupted around 6 a.m. ET, in an apartment complex in the Water Terrace community in Sunrise, a city west of Fort Lauderdale in Broward County.

SUNRISE, Florida: Two FBI agents were killed and another three were wounded during an early-morning raid at a Sunrise, Florida home as they were executing a court-ordered search warrant, the FBI said on Tuesday (Feb 2).
Authorities said they were serving a warrant in a child exploitation case. The suspect appeared to be contained inside a unit of an apartment complex, surrounded by law enforcement.

SUNRISE, Fla. Two FBI agents were killed and three wounded Tuesday after a standoff with a shooter in South Florida that forced people living nearby to huddle inside their homes as shots rang out and SWAT teams stormed an apartment building.
The confrontation in the Fort Lauderdale suburb of Sunrise marked one of the bloodiest days in FBI history in South Florida and among the deadliest nationally as well.
The fallen agents have been identified as Special Agent Daniel Alfin and Special Agent Laura Schwartzenberger.
