now, we have this combination of unrestricted gun access and unrestricted hate language. it feels like, sometimes, the government believes a third rail, regulating or legislating hate language that trails into really incited violence against minorities and others. at some point, it seems like rather than just passively watching today s mass shooting is over and over again, things like this which appear to be not only domestic terrorism but racially inspired domestic terrorism. it seems like we need to do something. and what that something is, i suggest, is that we need to regulate, using all of the powers of the executive branch agencies. we need to legislate using congress. and then, when those regulations and that legislation is attacked, we need to litigate. and we need to go to court and defend our positions. because, if we don t stop, letting these dark forces
shooter was not from the area. the shooter was not from this community. in fact, the shooter traveled hours from outside of this community to perpetrate this crime on the people of buffalo. buffalo law enforcement confirmed to nbc news that the guns used by the shooter had racial slurs written on them. buffalo residents are stunned by the events that happened saturday afternoon. he went and shooting. he went in the store? he went in the start shooting, he shot outside the store any shot inside the store. i heard at least 20 shots inside the store. it s just unbelievable, unbelievable. it s hard to even muster i just, it s unbelievable. officials say the gunman livestream part of the attack on twitch, a popular social media platform widely used by gamers. the platform has since taken
down the suspects channel. details about the story are still developing, as many gathered this morning for a vigil to mourn those killed and injured in the horror that happened there less than 24 hours ago. joining me now is congressman joe neguse of colorado and former federal prosecutor and msnbc legal analyst glenn kershner. thank you very much for coming back to the sunday show. thank you, john. thanks, john. congressman neguse, your reaction to the shooting in buffalo? well, thank you for having me on, jonathan, this morning. it s a devastating day for the country, certainly for the people of buffalo, new york. as you, know i was on your program previously, jonathan, in the days after a mass shooting in my district, in boulder colorado. just a year ago, where we lost ten members of our community at a grocery store. and so, my thoughts and my prayers, my heart goes out to the people of buffalo. i reached out to my colleague,
