Dozens of Lemmon Valley residents involved in a years-long legal battle with the city of Reno over the flooding of their homes in 2017 are moving to federal court in a complex case that could cost the city millions of dollars.
In 2019, residents who filed a class action lawsuit in Washoe County District Court, won a jury verdict that determined the city was responsible for the dramatic flooding that left some homes underwater for years. Their lawyer, Roger Doyle, opted to take those cases to federal court in February, which is the traditional jurisdiction for civil rights lawsuits.
