Reuben s Brews triples-down on triple IPAs - Washington Beer Blog

Washington Beer Blog Reuben’s Brews triples-down on triple IPAs By washingtonbeerblog on February 16, 2021 at 12:32 PM Is Reuben’s Brews the Master of Triple IPA? I don’t know the answer, I’m just posing the question. Such things are not for me to decide. Many of Washington’s breweries, and a lot of breweries across the nation, have created triple IPAs. Some of them very successfully. I don’t intend to suggest otherwise. But damn, Reuben’s Brews has an uncommon obsession with this style. One thing is certain, Reuben’s Brews is pretty damn serious about triple IPA. Right now, they have three of them for you to try: Blimey That’s Bitter and Triple Crush are available in cans for pickup at the brewery’s to-go store (order online), and Gobsmacked is still on draft at the taproom. Yep, three triple IPAs at once.

All counties in Washington now moving to Phase 2 re-opening

Washington Beer Blog All counties in Washington now moving to Phase 2 re-opening By washingtonbeerblog on February 14, 2021 at 2:32 PM (Sunday, Feb 14th) We recently announced that five more regions, 25 more counties, were moving to Phase 2 of Washington’s Safe Start guidance. (See that post.) Today Governor Inslee announced that the one remaining region, the South Central Region, is now cleared to move into Phase 2. Immediately! That means Yakima, Kittitas, Benton, Franklin, Columbia and Walla Walla counties can now move forward to Phase 2, which allows for indoor seating at 25 percent capacity. Of course, there are more requirements and guidelines, but by now the impacted businesses are probably very familiar with what Phase 2 means. (We explain it here.)

A new style of IPA Wayfinder and Ecliptic introduce Cold IPA

Washington Beer Blog A new style of IPA. Wayfinder and Ecliptic introduce Cold IPA By washingtonbeerblog on February 11, 2021 at 4:24 PM The IPA lexicon just got bigger. West Coast IPA, Hazy IPA, Northeast IPA, Brut IPA, and whatever-else IPA. You can now add Cold IPA to the mix. The whole point of Cold IPA is to provide a crisper version of IPA. Wayfinder Beer collaborated with Great Notion Brewing last year to create a Cold IPA. That’s the first time I’d ever heard of such a thing. Now, Wayfinder Beer has collaborated with Ecliptic Brewing to create another Cold IPA. As far as I can tell, a precious few other breweries have offered beers of this style, though I think Kevin Davey (brewmaster at Wayfinder) might deserve credit for the advent of the style. Hard to say. Not a lot of info out there. Not sure anyone ever really gets credit for inventing a new beer style anyway. A lot of independent invention happens out there in the beer world.

Breweries: Changes to Phase 2 food requirements for taprooms

Washington Beer Blog Breweries: Changes to Phase 2 food requirements for taprooms By washingtonbeerblog on February 8, 2021 at 9:22 AM As we’ve discussed before, and by now most breweries know, part of the requirements for Phase 2 openings involve food. This has created some headaches for brewery taprooms that historically not offered food, but the latest guidance from the state includes significant changes to the food requirements that offer some help. Here is the message from the Washington Brewers Guild. Important: Phase 2 Food Rule Changes for Indoor Service at Breweries (February 5, 2021) – Food must still be made available on-site for indoor service in Phase 2, however, there have been significant changes to the guidance and three meal offerings are no longer required. Snack options (outlined below) and allowing customers to bring in outside food will now meet the food criteria for indoor service in Phase 2.
