FREEPORT The Freeport Community Foundation recently awarded 15 grants totaling $75,914.72 to nonprofits benefiting Stephenson, Jo Daviess and Carroll counties.
Grants were awarded from the organization’s Community Needs/Marvin Unrestricted Fund and the Craig Wilson Trust.
Recipients and projects include Cats Care, which received $2,000 for the It s All About the Head program; the Davis Mental Health Group, which received $800 for a community resource guide; the Freeport Art Museum, which received $5,150 for a virtual museum; Madonna Renewal Education, which received $8,500 for its crisis support; Malcolm Eaton Enterprises, which received $6,890 for Eats & Beats 2021; the Northern Illinois Food Bank Stephenson County, which received $12,500 for Take 50; NWHomeStart , which received $7,500 to provide financial services for its tenants; Ramp, which received $2,640.24 for access to servic

LEAF RIVER Illinois Secretary of State and state librarian Jesse White recently awarded $1,142,645 in federal funding to libraries, school districts and library systems to prevent, prepare for and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The funding is to provide personal protective equipment and digital network access.
Area libraries that received funding for personal protective equipment include the Bertolet Memorial Library District in Leaf River, which received $460; the Odell Public Library in Morrison, which received $500; the Mount Carroll District Library, which received $500; and the Warren Township Public Library, which received $250.
The Mount Morris Public Library received a $3,000 Digital Network Access Awarded Grant.
