The majority of Edmonton s city council voted Wednesday night to withdraw from a capital region transit plan – an estimated $15-million decision – citing cost and inefficiency.
The City of Edmonton plans to build four new fire stations and upgrade several existing stations to bridge a potential gap in service in coming years. If city council approves the projects, the stations are expected to be finished and open by 2026.
Edmonton plans to spend $15.2 million on a safety hub over two years to deter crime and social disorder in Chinatown, with most of funding going to the police.
