In the aftermath of recent arson and gory violence that rocked Manipur, all ten MLAs belonging to the Kuki community have accused the Biren Singh government of failing miserably to protect the community and therefore, have resolved to pursue for grant of a “separate administration under the Constitution of India” and live peacefully as neighbours with Manipur.
After winning Manipur with party-hoppers, BJP has struggled to keep dissidence under control. Biren Singh, meanwhile, is firefighting on another front too: Ethnic tensions continue to impose a huge governance burden, the latest manifestation being the anti-govt violence in Kuki-dominated Churachandpur district
In his resignation letter to Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Raghumani said he was quitting the post for "personal reasons, and also in the public interest, it is felt that my continuance as chairman of MANIREDA is not called for at this juncture".
