qanon-elected congressmen. what would the questions even be? there were a couple of times i worked in government and at fbi headquarters, we had off-the-wall question. what if every question is off the wall and doesn t adhere to any form of reality? these also these qanon adherents, if they believe these conspiracies they oftentimes have no concept of civics or how the government works. it breaks down the government, not even because they re trying to. they literally do not understand how government works. some of the questions that you hear even today in hearings do not comport to any reality of how any of these agencies operate in a day-to-day basis. and it is just important to button this up with this. i mean there s now an intersection between the disgraced ex-president and this conspiracy movement, qanon. kevin mccarthy had a chance to say, no, not in my republican caucus, not in my republican
walls that we built hold beautifully. everybody knows that walls work. the border patrol has done an incredible job. but we need the help and the back jun of the wall. so he continues to say everybody knows walls work except there are a lot of experts who are saying walls don t do, are not as effective as the president is professing. so will he change his tune? does he have any incentive to change his tune? well, i learned long ago never to try to predict what president trump is going to do. however, i think there is a couple of things. he has sent conflicting signals on this, does it have to be a wall question, right? there have been various times, including in his national address, where he talked much more about border security as a whole. and you have people on capitol hill, saying well, this is a game of semantics, it isn t, it is a wall or not. if the president can convince his supporters that some kind of border security package is the
it hasn t been used a lot in recent years, president obama only used it three times if you remember. the oil spill in the gulf. the end of combat operations in iraq and counter-terrorism the way forward that s how president obama used it now president trump is using it to make the case this common sense pitch about the crisis on the border and why he thinks it should be negotiated with the democrats to get the money for his wall question is whether he will make a declaration a national emergency doesn t look like it tonight he will hold it in his back pocket and say it tonight. tucker: i think that will probably be likely. this will be ongoing, obviously. until probably the state of the union. we go to the oval office and the president. my fellow americans. tonight i am speaking to you because there is a growing humanitarian and security crisis at our southern border. every day customs and border patrol agents encounter thousands of illegal
but real politics work if you do so from a position of moral clarity and holding people accountable. we need to do that. i won t get into the classified briefings. we ve asked the administration to give a briefing to all members of congress and hope to get the administration to come in the next week or two to brief members on what our intelligence community knows about this case. that means there is more to find out and there is more to do and i ll leave it at that. i think for national security we need to stand up for our values and stand up for our interests and when you are practicing real politics you have to stand up for american interests and those two do not necessarily have to collide with one another. just following up on the wall question. based on your meeting with the president yesterday it sounds like he is very firm on [inaudible] could you provide us any suggestion of how we can bridge the gap? i don t think it s in our
at the leaks and ask who was leaking. it s pretty of course that it wasn t republicans on the committee. look at the information that was leaked. it was always information that was damaging to the president. it was always information that was damaged to the republican narrative, the story we told. and the last couple days, they ve been saying we re afraid of protecting this person s identity or afraid of lives being in danger, this information was leaked but it wasn t by us. we didn t have the information yesterday. it was leaked by someone in the department of justice or the fbi and they hoped they would be able to taint us with that leak. once again, it wasn t united states. we don t have access to the information yesterday. harris: congressman stewart, you and i have been on several fridays of breaking news, so we navigated some things. i want to come with a little off-the-wall question for you because i know you can handle it. has anybody looked at jeff sessions going back and re
