YPSILANTI, Mich. – Association Football Club Ann Arbor and Washtenaw My Brother’s Keeper, in partnership with the Hart & Tay Train Foundation, the Rob Murphy Foundation and the Mighty Oak Project, have launched a new community youth program called CLR Academy.
The free weekly program aims to support young children’s exploration and creativity through sport, reading, writing and nutrition. CLR Academy is set to begin in June at Sycamore Meadows in Ypsilanti for its residents and surrounding community members.

Six school communities across three local boards will participate in a pilot project aimed at getting more kids walking, biking, skateboarding or scootering to class.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has received a $60,000 grant for the initiative through the Ontario Active School Travel program.

The six schools selected by committee for the pilot project are: King Edward, Margaret D. Bennie and Talbot Trail from the Greater Essex County District School Board; Holy Name and Stella Maris from the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board; and Monseigneur-Jean-Noel from the Conseil scolaire catholique Providence.

Theyâre starting âWalking Wednesdaysâ today, where officers walk around neighborhoods and meet with those in the community.
Each week, a crime prevention officer plans to pick a new area theyâd like to walk in.
For this Wednesday, theyâll be out in the Jimtown/Jacobsville neighborhood. So if you see them, theyâd love to say hello.
