A “bi-partisan community rally” led by Curtis Sliwa in front of former Manhattan College dorm Overlook Manor over it potentially turning into a shelter for asylum seekers, was perhaps anything but non-partisan as two sides stood opposite each other in the rain last Sunday in a war of words.
Led by former New York city mayoral candidate, radio talk show host and head of the Guardian Angels Curtis Sliwa, members of the Waldo Gardens board of directors will hold a rally outside Overlook Manor Sunday.
The community can now stop worrying about the development of a homeless shelter by Stagg Group at 435 W. 238th St. near Waldo Avenue. Now, it might become permanent housing for migrant families.
A “no moped” sign that comforted some Riverdale residents who usually walk down a path was removed without explanation. Its removal was such a mystery that the city transportation department did not even know about.
