The future of Manhattan College’s former Overlook Manor may be as an asylum seeker migrant housing facility based on a letter provided to The Riverdale Press and a building permit posted on the city buildings department website.
A “bi-partisan community rally” led by Curtis Sliwa in front of former Manhattan College dorm Overlook Manor over it potentially turning into a shelter for asylum seekers, was perhaps anything but non-partisan as two sides stood opposite each other in the rain last Sunday in a war of words.
The community can now stop worrying about the development of a homeless shelter by Stagg Group at 435 W. 238th St. near Waldo Avenue. Now, it might become permanent housing for migrant families.
