Maharashtra is the foremost industrial state in the country and accounts every year for nearly 15 per cent of the India’s gross domestic produce (GDP). While the state is now synonymous with several industries and is a top destination for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) coming to India, Maharashtra has always had a rich legacy of industrialists operating in the state. While several business families are well known today, a lot of older names have been either forgotten or their impact not fully understood. HAL soars after recording revenue over Rs 22,700 cr in FY21

Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) jumped 4.24% to Rs 1037 after the company said it recorded revenue in excess of Rs 22,700 crore for the financial year ended on 31 March 2021, in spite of the COVID-19 disruptions. The corresponding figure for the previous year stood at Rs 21,438 crore. The company has posted a revenue growth of around 6% in FY 2020-21 thanks to the improved productivity after suspending the operations for one month in the beginning of the year. R. Madhavan, CMD, HAL, said that the year 2020-21 was significant in terms of securing the largest ever defence contract of 83 LCA MK-IA by an Indian company. This helped the company surpass the order book position in excess of Rs 80,000 crore. The record revenue was achieved with the help of production of 41 new helicopters/aircraft, 102 new engines, overhaul of 198 aircraft/helicopters and 506 engines, he added.

Tejas Mark II roll out next year; high-speed trials in 2023: HAL Chief

A more potent version of the indigenous Tejas multirole combat jet featuring a much powerful engine, greater load carrying capability, next-generation electronic warfare system and an array of superior avionics is expected to be rolled out next year and its first high-speed trials will start in 2023, Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd R Madhavan has said. He said the structural package and other work on the Tejas Mark II is progressing well and its production is likely to start somewhere around 2025. He said the upgraded version will have a bigger fuselage, longer range, better maintainability, greater load carrying capability, much stronger engine power and superior net-centric warfare systems.
