We have our eyes trained on a courthouse in washington this morning, where the grand jury empanelled by the Special Counsel to investigate donald trump and Election Interference is beginning to arrive as we that speak. That means a secret vote on whether to indict the former president could potentially come at any moment. Nbcs ryan reilly is at that courthouse. Garrett haake is standing by in along along with former federal prosecutor cynthia axne and veteran prosecutor and Trial Attorney Paul Henderson joins us as well. Right to ryan to start us off do here. Do we know for sure if a vote is going to happen today, ryan . Reporter we dont know that for sure. All we know is that they are present here at the courthouse. Our producers who have been tracking this grand jury over several months recognize many some of the grand jurors and know that they are now upstairs on the third floor where
what him. what i m looking for in this case especially in georgia and i think we ll start seeing this more and more, of all of these various prosecutions are going to be sharing information and so the information we see about election fraud that happens in georgia, some of that testimony, some of that evidence, some of the evidence being used for those charges will be shared among some of these other and hopefully, especially in this case that we re all waiting for now, the federal indictments that are coming as well. so what is happening even at a local level matters. all of it takes the puts the taint on donald trump, continues to paint him in a very specific light and very specific way, and i don t think some of his audience cares about it, but the rest of the country is likely to care about it, especially when we start getting more of the details of his very specific behavior, avoiding the transition of power and avoiding the return of documents, that s what i think is at the for
i watched him on september 11th, i ve watched him since september 11th, and i know and i ve said regularly on fox that he s a man of integrity when others who once said that changed their mind and started to attack him. i ve never done that. so i always thought if you re going to have an investigation, it needs to be serious, it needs to be sober. there have been no leaks. let the facts speak for themselves, and let the american people reach conclusions. and that s what we re all waiting for now, to get the report. i would add advise mueller and barr to stand together and release as much as they can. mueller should walk through the facts of what they found and then let barr talk about the implications. i do think the two should take that step. leland: on the left side of the screen is video of bob mueller enjoying a saturday or in washington in georgetown walking around. real quickly, ari, you make some excellent points about waiting for the release of the report, yet there are so many
from that court that s hearing that hugely important texas case. but if that court does, as expected, rule in favor of the state of texas, if that court does say that texas can restrict abortion rights the way it wants to, that ruling, a ruling like that would conflict directly with the other federal appeals courts in other jurisdictions that have ruled the other way on that exact same question. and that cannot stand. right? conflicting decisions on an issue like this can t stand. with republicans pushing laws like this as far and as fast as they can all over the country, shutting down clinics with laws like this can t be federally constitutional in one place and federally unconstitutional in another place. at that point, someone s going to have to decide. these guys are going to have to decide. and depending on that texas ruling that we re all waiting for now, the day when it goes to these guys should be coming very, very soon. watch this space.
