Members of the Wadena County Board of Commissioners listened to a presentation about the growth in the county's 4-H club over the past year and purchased a 40-acre piece of land for nearly four-times the assessed value during their most recent meeting on May 17.
Fund expenditures still must be accounted for, and there are stipulations on what the money can be spent on. For example, funds could not (and still cannot) be spent on installing new city utility systems, budgetary items or to lower property taxes.
Part-time deputies of the Wadena County Sheriff's Department will be getting a raise to $17.15 an hour as of Jan. 1, said Sheriff Mike Carr. The raise means an approximate 60 percent jump in pay for the deputies, and Carr said it's long overdue.
