Election Day, May 1, 2021: San Angelo ISD School Board results come in

On Election Day, May 1, 2021, voters went to the polls to decide three district races. Single Member District 1 Out of a total of 588 ballots cast, incumbent Bill Dendle was projected to be the winner with 411 votes (70%) to Chris Giroux s 177 ballots (30%). The Standard-Times contacted Bill Dendle for his thoughts on being reelected to the school board. Well, I d like to say Hello to Mr. Giroux. It was a very amiable campaign, and I wish him well in his future endeavors, Dendle said. I look forward to just getting to work again and helping the kids of San Angelo with their education. Single Member District 3

ELECTION May 2021: Early voting in San Angelo ends with low turnout

View Comments SAN ANGELO   You could hear the sound of an I voted pin drop in the hallways of the Edd B. and Frances Frink Keyes building on Tuesday evening  had there been anyone around to drop one as early voting in San Angelo came to a close. The corridors were empty of all but election staff at about 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 27, 2021, a stark contrast to the long lines of registered voters who cast ballots during early voting for the November 2020 U.S. presidential election. I wish we certainly had more voters coming out,  Election administrator Vona Hudson said.

Here are the Early Voting Totals for the Municipal and School Board Elections in San Angelo   SAN ANGELO, TX – Just over six percent of registered voters in San Angelo cast ballots in the two weeks of early voting for the May 1 municipal and school board elections.  According to Tom Green County Elections Administrator Vona Hudson, during the early voting period for the May 1 election 2,519 in person votes were cast. There were also 1,142 absentee votes making the total 3,661 early voting ballots cast. In San Angelo there are 54,937 registered voters meaning only 6.66 percent of voters have made it to the polls during early voting.

Early Voter Turnout Light in San Angelo   SAN ANGELO, TX – Early Voting turnout in Tom Green County remains low as only 2.22 percent of registered voters have cast ballots as of Monday morning. According to Tom Green County Elections Administrator Vona Hudson, as of Apr. 26 at 10 a.m., 1,561 voters have cast ballots in the Keys building. In the last election there were 70,055 registered voters in Tom Green County. If that number stays the same then only a little over two percent of voters have cast ballots this year during early voting. In 2018, the last mayoral election, there was 3,130 votes cast during early voting. The total votes cast in that election was 7,045. That number is much higher that the current election.
