Volunteers for Mental Health shine light on programs Monday, May 10, 2021 2:25 PM Life can be challenging for each of us at times! Add to that the components of a pandemic, and the effects can be even more significant. The National Institute of Mental Health reported just last month that studies conducted by the CDC and other entities found a significant rise in mental health issues after the onslaught of the COVID-19 Pandemic. According to the CDC: • Thirty-one percent of respondents reported symptoms of anxiety or depression • 13percent reported having started or increased substance use • 26 percent reported stress-related symptoms • and 11 percent reported having serious thoughts of suicide in the past 30 days

United Fund announces totals from 2020 Campaign

The Montgomery County United Fund Board of Directors recently announced the 2020 campaign total as $251,424.58. Despite the difficulties of this past year, contributors, both corporate and individual, continued to support MCUF efforts and those of its partner agencies. “We celebrate and thank you for your generosity,” said Gina Haile, MCUF area director. In addition to the campaign total, the board announced the total community investment as $269,523.42. This investment will be distributed among 15 partner agencies. Those agencies include: Boys & Girls Club of Montgomery County, Camp Rotary, Community Chest, Crawfordsville Adult Resource Academy, Family Crisis Shelter, Fuzzy Bear Preschool, Hand in Hand Learning Center, New Beginnings Child Care, Pam’s Promise, Recovery Coalition, Sunshine Vans, Trinity Life Ministry, Volunteers for Mental Health, Willson Family Literacy Preschool and the Youth Service Bureau.
