Abu Dhabi: A group of Saudi speech-language pathologist called for more to be done to help stutterers.
It wants the establishment of a stuttering welfare association to provide support for people who stutter to help them overcome their condition and integrate into society, local media reported.
This came in a social media show, where the Saudi Volunteer Club discussed stuttering.
The show witnessed a remarkable audience, including stuttering people, their families and a group of clinicans who contributed greatly to shedding light on this disorder.
The Saudi experts said stuttering is a speech disorder characterised by repetition of sounds, syllables, or words; prolongation of sounds; and interruptions in speech known as blocks. An individual who stutters exactly knows what he or she would like to say but has trouble producing a normal flow of speech.
