The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has detected customs duty evasion of around Rs 2,217 crore by Vivo Mobile India Private Limited.A show cause notice has been issued to Vivo India demanding customs duty amounting to Rs 2,217 crore, .
The company has challenged the freezing of its bank accounts by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The court has also sought a response from the ED to the petition.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) today alleged that the Indian arm of Chinese mobile phone maker Vivo “remitted” almost 50 per cent of its turnover (Rs 62,476 crore) to China to avoid paying taxes here. Vivo has a turnover of Rs 1,25,185 crore.
