FALLBROOK    Sheriff’s investigators on Wednesday released the name of a 56-year-old man killed and found buried on a Fallbrook property two weeks ago. Deputies discovered the body of Robert Berry Pierce, also known as Bobby Berry Pierce, while investigating “a suspicious circumstance” July 14. Authorities have been tight-lipped about the case and have not said how he died. Nicholas Andrew Burg, 29, who lives on the South Ridge Drive property where Pierce was found, was charged in Vista Superior Court with murder and two auto theft-related counts. He pleaded not guilty last week. A complaint alleges Pierce was killed July 12 or 13.

VISTA    A 29-year-old Fallbrook man arrested last week after a body was found buried on a property where he lives pleaded not guilty to a murder charge Wednesday. Nicholas Andrew Burg is also charged with two auto-theft related counts, according to the criminal complaint filed in Vista Superior Court. He faces 33 years to life if convicted of all charges, Deputy District Attorney Nikki Estrada said. No new details of the case were revealed during the arraignment, and the victim’s name has not been released. Advertisement Prosecutors allege in the complaint that the victim was killed July 12 or 13. Sheriff’s deputies found the body July 14, buried on the property where Burg lives on South Ridge Drive, south of Live Oak Park Road.

Manuel Eliseo Martinez, now 35, was convicted in Vista Superior Court of murder, attempted murder and other charges stemming from the shooting death of his older brother, Antonio Martinez, at Pounders Sports Pub. Antonio Martinez was 35 years old at the time of his death. The September 2018 shooting happened after the brothers left the bar on West Grand Avenue near South Broadway, got into a car and sped off, prompting a bar patron to chastise them for speeding, according to Escondido police.
