Underwater. This giant sink hole opened up on alhambra county road in pinole. A new slide on highway 17 stopped traffic. At one point, both southbound lanes were shut down. On monday, the northbound lanes were shut down by a big slide. Busy highway 37 is closed in novato tonight. 24 hours after novato creek flooded during heavy rains. As you can see, several drivers ended up abandoning their cars in the water. Caltrans says 37,000 vehicles crossed highway 37 on a typical day. Tonight it is closed from highway 101 to atherton avenue. Reporter julie, if you take a look behind me, you can still see that high water here on highway 37. Those three abandons vehicles, still out here, stranded by it that high water. The chp tells me it was the proverbial perfect storm that shut down highway 37. At least three people are dead this morning after a plane that was headed to san jose crashed into houses in riverside. Two others are also injured. It happened yesterday evening just before 5 00. This is new aerial video of the aftermath of the crash just into the kron four news room. Officials say the plane struck some homes in riverside, split apart and then burst into flames. An army of firefighters battling wildfire across california tonight. As tens of thousands of acres go up in flames. We are tracking the destruction tonight. Youre looking at video from the cold fire in yolo county and the soberanes fire in monterey county. Good evening im Vicki Liviakis in for pam moore. Steve and im steve aveson. Tonight we are looking into why this fire season may be more of a challenge for firefighters. Kron4s Spencer Blake joins us now. And spencer is there progress tonight on the fire lines . Reporter the progress is very slowgoing, lets put it that way. The cold fire up in yolo county is still just 15 percent contained, and its burned 47 hundred acres. And down in monterey county, the 54thousand acre soberanes fire is 35 percent contained.
