Feb 24, 2021 Transportation and public works officials from Hawaii County and Oregon will share road safety lessons from their own communities during a virtual town hall for Maui residents on Thursday. The Vision Zero Virtual Town Hall, hosted by the Maui Metropolitan Planning Organization, will take place at 4 p.m. via Zoom with a focus on reducing traffic fatalities to zero. Matt Rodrigues, public works director from Eugene, Ore., will share key lessons from the city’s Vision Zero Initiative, while Natasha Soriano, transportation planner from Hawaii County, will also share takeaways from the island’s Vision Zero Action Plan. The event will also feature remarks from U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz, Gov. David Ige and Maui County Mayor Michael Victorino.

The appointments began on 1 February 2021 and will run for four years until 31 January 2025. Board members provide non-executive leadership challenge and support to the Environment Agency’s executive through regular Board meetings, committees and groups. They also undertake individual lead roles on relevant issues and with local operational teams. All appointments to the Environment Agency Board are made on merit following open competition.
