Good afternoon. It is not often that i get a musical introduction so i appreciate that very much. I think we will have some fun with our panel when they come up but as i think you know, i believe this is the program, we are going to have a special guest first and a little intimate conversation between this special guest and me and i feel very privileged to be able to chat with them. An old and dear friend, senator john warner. Senator warner is approaching old age but you would never know it. We have been sitting in the back and talking about old times in this race and that race and all kinds of things. I was thinking about his career and that is absolutely incredible because you can go back as far as world war ii and korea. He was in both of those wars, and he did not have to, he did not have to do the second one if he did the first one, but he was always willing to jump in and participate. He did lots of things in between, but lets start with secretary of the navy and early 1970s. Th

He did a lot of things so stop but monday start in the seventies that became the head of the bicentennial commission to remember the tall ships in the wonderful celebration. And there he went to the United States senate was elected in 1878 it was 5000 votes but that was pretty much the end of his contest but mainly he was unopposed from early 79 all the way from 2009 and then he was defeated by another warner that was completely not related. But just on a personal note and it describes his life when he ran for a senate i was already a pundit back then as the hobo no real employment that mattered in to do the things that mad

I rise today because its my honor to introduce my colleague who actually needs no introduction but still for this speech today. Mr. Hoeven i have the pleasure to introduce kevin cramer who will be thriferring his delivering his official maiden speech to the senate. Ive known kevin for many years. Hes always been incredibly diligent worker for the people of north dakota. And he served our state in many different capacities. He served as tourism director and did a tremendous job promoting our state, promoting tourism, and really promoting the beauty and the history of our state in a way that brought a lot of National Attention and really made a difference in terms of tourism for our state. He also served our state as Economic Development director, something that is certainly near and dear to my heart. Ive always believed that job creations are job one. To me thats the engine th

And he went to a place many of you never heard of, the United States senate. He was elected in 1978, elected very narrowly, 5000 votes, very narrowly. That was the end of his time test. Occasionally he would have one within a few Percentage Points but mainly was unopposed. In the u. S. Senate from
