Spokane Indians games pushed back due to heat

KXLY June 28, 2021 5:07 PM Vincent Saglimbeni Updated: SPOKANE, Wash. The next six home games for the Spokane Indians will start at 7:05 p.m. due to concerns the recent heat wave in the Inland Northwest. The excessive heat warning currently in place will push the next six games back 30 minutes from their typical 6:30 p.m. start time.  The first pitch set at 7:05 p.m. will allow for less sun exposure and more shaded seats for fans. Avista Stadium will open its doors at 6 p.m. for each of the next six games. The Indians begin a three game series with the Tri-City Dust Devils on Tuesday.

Medical Lake placing temporary ban on fireworks

KXLY June 28, 2021 7:39 PM Vincent Saglimbeni CHENEY, Wash. Medical Lake has put a temporary ban on fireworks due to wildfire concerns. Dry conditions and the prediction of upcoming record-setting temperatures in the state led to Spokane County Fire District 3 to place the temporary ban. Section 5.10.060 of the Medical Lake Municipal Code allows for the Fire Chief to prohibit the use of fireworks during a “period of hot, dry weather accompanied by low fuel moistures.” Firefighters have already been on their toes these past few weeks with these dry conditions. Fuel conditions are 6-8 weeks ahead of schedule, indicating that these conditions are more noticeable in late August.
