According to a study conducted on organic food product firms in the city by researchers from Gandhi Krishi Vigyana Kendra (GKVK), there has been an increase in the number of such stores over time, indicating a change in consumer preferences and the rising demand for organic products.

Notably, the census, mandated by the Karnataka High Court four years ago is still only on paper. While the IWST campus, Jarakabande forest area, Hessarghatta Tank, and Nandi Hills have firefly populations of more than 100 individuals each, H-Cross and Sambhram College campus recorded less than 10 individuals.
