Notably, the census, mandated by the Karnataka High Court four years ago is still only on paper. In October 2019, the High Court directed BBMP to start the city’s tree enumeration within one month starting October 10 of that year. While there have been many attempts by the Palike to kick start the survey in the past, all the plans so far have stayed only on the drawing board.
