every morning, and goes to sleep asking himself every night. the shooting happened the morning of september 13th 2013. deputy lynn spots stephens riding his bicycle and believes that he s impeding normal flow of traffic and decides to pull him over. you see the deputy following stephens as he rides his bike through the yard. he hops off the bike and walks toward the deputy and out of the camera s view. a dark object in one of his hands. then, gunfire. and stephens is seen falling down as he runs away. we saw a cover behind this vehicle. in a video walk-through of the scene recorded hours after the shooting. deputy lynn explains to investigators that he shot at stephens believing he had a gun. when his hand start theed going down i went from the facer to the gun. i didn t draw yet. when his actions came here and made the movement to come here towards the back and his left hand started to come up is when i drew when his hand was coming
judges are really low to let in this kind of, i guess, reenactment when it almost encroaches on what the jury should be deciding which is what really happened that night. the jury should be the ones listening to the evidence, listening to the witnesses deciding credibility and deciding whose version of events they believe. not through the prism of someone else s reenactment. and it could be powerful for the defense because it would basically back up what the defense position as far as george zimmerman and trayvon martin. mark, i want you to watch. just a little while ago, they did show the beginning part of the animation that was prepared by daniel schumaker. that s his job, basically, to create this kind of evidence. watch this. where does that come from that gave you the foundation to create that portion of the animation? from mr. zimmerman s video
people got up on the witness stand and lied? i thought that was actually a very interesting tactic by the defense but i thought it was very effective. hold that thought for a moment, jose. martin, hold that thought. i want to go back to the courtroom now. judge debra nelson hearing the attorneys argue about another potential piece of evidence, an animation out there. i want to listen in a little. also as i informed mr. o mara, it s difficult to tell based on objection j what the change in version three from version two really was based on. in other words, is it based on the idea that now we are only sticking to certain testimony whereas in deposition he testified that it was written statements, police reports, the defendant s video walk-through,
get away, they ve always been too slow and he s going to make sure that this time something stops them from getting away. the one other time that somebody got caught had nothing to do with him. it had to do with stuckio guy who followed and identified and thereby caught the burglar. and the defendant knew it. the inconsistencies in the defendant s own statements are hardly minor. i think viewed in favor of the state, which the court is required to do and construed in the light most favorable of the state, they re evidence of somebody who can t figure out which lie he s already told so he tells a new one. he jumped out of the bushes. no, he didn t jump out of the bushes, he was right there where you are standing in the video walk through. no, he s not right there where you are standing, he actually after i hung up the phone and turned around to walk back to my
follows hours of detective from police detective chris serino. he s critical because he s the lead investigator. he conducted three interviews including a video walk through where trayvon martin was killed. i want to bring in george howell outside the courtroom. first of all, i want to reverse this. the person we most recently saw was the best friend. his testimony he describes zimmerman was wide eyed and detached. what do you think is the significance of the portrait that he played for the jurors? reporter: when you look at mr. osterman it s important for two different reasons. we re getting insight into those moments immediately after the shooting. we re hearing that george zimmerman seemed detached. his wife seemed upset about what happened. this is the same person who wrote the book defending your best friend, the most hated man
