Since June 2021, there haven't been capacity restrictions on restaurants or bars in Michigan. For many restaurant owners, though, the struggle has continued amidst record COVID-19 case numbers, the ongoing labor shortage, and unpredictable supply chain delays of everything from chicken wings to cream cheese.

KALAMAZOO, MI A year of unprecedented problems called for unprecedented solutions. Kalamazoo’s Millennium Restaurant Group is thinking outside of the igloo as it transforms moving containers into private dining rooms.
Cove Lakeside Bistro and 600 Kitchen and Bar were caught in a balancing act of adhering to coronavirus guidelines and fighting Michigan weather, Millennium Restaurant Group Managing Partner Shelly Pastor said.
Both restaurants offer takeout, but even with carryout orders they are only seeing about 10% of typical sales, Pastor said.
“We have to figure out how we can keep people in a job,” Pastor said.
