Legislator: County budget cares for needy while planning for unknown (Commentary)

As chair of the Onondaga County Legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee during this unprecedented pandemic, I am in awe of the tireless efforts of our teams. I absorb expertise from respective commissioners and proudly advocate for their staffing needs on the legislative floor as they deliver arguably the most vital services impacting our most vulnerable neighbors in need.
My fierce loyalty to these departments leads to my obligation to call out blatant party politics and misinformation in response to my colleague, Legislator Mary Kuhn’s ill-informed letter, “Legislator: Onondaga County budget fails to prioritize our most vulnerable” (Dec. 9, 2020).
