The ex-husband of Naya Rivera wrote he “still can’t believe it” in an emotional tribute a year after the
Glee actress was laid to rest.
Ryan Dorsey, who was married to Rivera from 2014 to 2018, shared endearing words about their five-year-old son, Josey, in the Instagram post late Saturday (July 24).
“The year has flown by, so fast that it doesn’t seem like it’s been a year at all,” Dorsey wrote. “Our boy has grown so much. He’s such an explorer, so inquisitive. He’s sweet, so funny, and his laugh always lights up the room. He’s an intuitive soul to say the least.”

Local activists and officials in Ventura County reacted Tuesday to the conviction of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in the killing of George Floyd.
Regina Hatcher-Crawford, president of Ventura County s chapter of the NAACP, said she was nearly speechless hearing news of the verdict. This was the fight I watched my father fight, she said.
Hatcher-Crawford compared the occasion to the verdict delivered in the Rodney King trial nearly 29 years ago, when several white Los Angeles police officers were acquitted on all charges. Her father John Hatcher III was Ventura County s NAACP president at the time and led protests during the course of the trial, which featured a predominantly white jury in Simi Valley.

The 32nd Annual GLAAD Media Awards honored the late Glee actor Naya Rivera with a tearjerker video featuring the cast of Glee. Rivera played the beloved character Santana Lopez, who was groundbreaking in LGBT representation and diversity on broadcast television.
Rivera tragically passed away in July 2020 due to a boating incident at Lake Piru in Ventura, California. It was thought that she had died saving her son while the two were out of the boat, swimming. In a press statement, Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub said, “She mustered enough energy to get her son back onto the boat, but not enough to save herself.”
