Town 2-1 Coventry City Sunday, 3rd May 2009 16:54
Goals from Giovani Dos Santos and Pablo Couñago saw the Blues to a 2-1 final day victory over Coventry City. After a very strong first half, Town were less dominant after the break and Leon Best pulled one back for the visitors.
Boss Roy Keane made two changes to his side for his inaugural home game, Jon Stead coming in up front and Tommy Smith surprisingly making his first senior appearance since the opening day of the season. The 19-year-old, who has only played three reserve games since breaking his ankle in August, came in at left-back, where he has played for the second string and previously for the England U18s. Matt Richards and Iván Campo dropped out.

Balkestein Set to Start Against Saints Tuesday, 3rd Mar 2009 09:13
Dutchman Pim Balkestein looks set to return to the Town starting line-up this evening when the Blues take on Southampton at Portman Road (KO 7.45pm). Full-back Moritz Volz has joined Danny Haynes and Ben Thatcher on the sidelines, but Iván Campo is back in the squad.
Volz limped off at Preston on Saturday with a recurrence of his groin injury and was replaced at right-back by Alex Bruce, with Balkestein coming off the bench to join Gareth McAuley at centre-half.
Boss Jim Magilton seems likely to start with the former Heerenveen youngster alongside skipper McAuley with Bruce at right-back and David Wright on the left.
Town Waiting on Volz Ahead of Palace Trip Friday, 16th Jan 2009 10:57
Town are waiting on full-back Moritz Volz ahead of Saturday s trip to Crystal Palace. The German has a groin problem and is rated 50/50 to take his place at right-back, but better news is that the Blues can call on midfielder Veliche Shumulikoski after his one-game ban.
If fit, Volz is likely to take his usual role at on the right of the defence with David Wright out for around another week with his hamstring problem. Otherwise, Alex Bruce will play in the right-back position he filled last week until Iván Campo picked up the calf problem which will keep him out for a month.
