Crisil's 'Roti Rice report' said that non-vegetarian thali was relatively less impacted by rising tomato prices and the cost of preparing one went up by only 13%.
Prices of vegetarian meals increased by 34% in July, with a 25% increase attributed to the price of tomatoes, according to a report by Crisil. Non-vegetarian meals increased by 13% due to soaring prices of tomatoes and broiler chicken. The cost of a vegetarian thali increased from Rs 26.3 to Rs 33.7 in June and July respectively, while non-vegetarian thalis rose to Rs 66.8, their highest level in over a year.
