VIT, Vellore, holds 38th annual convocation
Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore, conducted its 38th annual convocation recently. Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Civil Aviation General Dr VK. Singh took part as chief guest and delivered the convocation address.
She said that the mining, oil and gas sector is critical to the sustainable and inclusive economic growth of the nation. She also talked about the growing industry of potash production in the state. The state sits over more than 20,000 million tonnes of probable potash deposits. Potash is used mainly for producing fertiliser and currently most of India’s potash needs are being fulfilled through imports. With the growth of Rajasthan’s potash production industry, the country can become self-sufficient in this important mineral.
