Jagan hints at amending A.P. Private University Act of 2006
The A.P. Private University Act of 2006 will be amended and 35% seats in private universities will be filled under government quota for the benefit of socially and economically underprivileged communities, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has said.
At a review meeting on higher education on Friday, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that upcoming private universities should maintain high standards, and mulled converting the existing colleges into private universities.
Joint certification
“There should be joint certification with 200 best educational institutions in the world, and it should last for five years. This should be considered as the criterion for recognising a college as a private university,” the Chief Minister said.

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the government has decided to amend the AP Private University Act, 2006 by which 35 per cent seats in private universities would be filled by the government quota. The amendment Bill will be introduced in the Budget session.

Amaravati: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the officials to prepare an action plan for providing unlimited uninterrupted internet network in villages and setup an internet library at network point to facilitate work-from-home in villages.
During a review meeting on Internet Connections in villages and providing laptops under Amma Vodi scheme, held here on Friday, the Chief Minister instructed the officials to aim at providing uninterrupted internet services at desired connection plans for rural areas. He told the officials to focus on developing an internet system with non destructive cables, which can neither be cut nor disturbed to provide unlimited network services in villages. Through village network points, house to house internet must be provided even in YSR Jagananna Colonies.
