BJP candidates in Mandi Gobindgarh and Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib civic body elections are facing the wrath of farmers and residents. They are not being allowed to enter in many wards.
In Mandi Gobindgarh, farmers are taking out protest marches daily against saffron party candidates. Joining BJP leaders who are either leaving the party or fighting as Independents, the mandal president has also resigned from the party and is contesting as Independent to keep his chances alive. The pro-farmer bodies are appreciating his gesture and extending support to him.
In Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib wards, residents, particularly women accompanied by their family members, gheraoed senior BJP leader Dr Harbans Lal in Aman Colony, when he along with the BJP candidate was canvassing. They raised slogans against the central government and forced BJP leaders to leave the colony. They were told not to seek votes in the area.
